Second edition of the Days of African Woman Film-makers 2012 JCFA will be held in Ouagadougou and Dedougou. At 100 days from the launching ceremony of 2012 JCFA that will take place from March 3rd to 7th 2012, the organizers are working hard in order to assure a complete success to the event. The opening ceremony will take place in Ouagadougou, the Capital City, but the closing ceremony is planned to occur on March 7th, 2012 in Dedougou.

ARTS JOURNALISM WORKSHOP

For the 10th year, the Cape Town International Jazz Festival presents its unique arts journalism training programme: ‘Reviving the Drumbeat’. This year they will be running two courses: Arts Journalism and Mentoring Arts Journalists. Both use the CTIJF and its music as their practical context. Through this focus you’ll develop transferable skills that you can apply to any arts topic in the newsroom. The two courses run parallel to one another, and share some sessions. But they have different goals, and are designed for different kinds of participants. Both courses provide workbooks packed with useful tips and hints, and hands-on workshop sessions offering practical guidance and feedback on tasks. When you complete the course you’ll receive an attendance certificate. Arts journalism candidates will have covered the curriculum specified for the SAQA Unit Standard ‘Cover a Specialist Beat as a Journalist’ (117541) and if you area newsroom internyou’ll have stories to add to your assessment portfolios.

The Time of the Writer international writers festival brings together writers from around the world in a week-long programme of stimulating literary events in Durban during March. Evening theatre readings, presentations and discussions are complemented by daily activities at various tertiary institutions, community centres, schools and other venues.
