Africalia
Africalia aims to make a contribution to sustainable human development cooperation based on this thinking. Not on the basis of what Europe considers necessary or useful, but what is deemed desirable by people and organisations in Africa. The association’s object is described as follows in its statutes: '…promotion of sustainable human development in Africa (…). To achieve the goal of sustainable human development, the association will help to promote socio-economic and socio-cultural development and a reinforcement of the social foundations in partner countries as well as create awareness among Belgian public opinion (…)'
In the cultural field the cooperation focuses on: • Integrating the cultural dimension into all levels of development cooperation, • recognising, protecting and promoting values and cultural identities to encourage intercultural dialogue, • recognising, protecting and validating cultural patrimony, supporting the development of capacities in these sectors, • developing the cultural industry and improving access to markets for artistic and cultural goods and services. African Foundation for Development
This is a social enterprise, accountable to both the Charity Commission and Company’s house through its Board. Registered in the UK in 1994, it runs projects and programmes such as SEEDA (Supporting Entreprenuers and Enterprise Development in Africa). It seeks to mobilise the diaspora and other partners to support and invest in sustainable enterprises, particularly SME’s that will generate wealth and jobs and respond to the jobs crisis in Africa. The programme is currently active in Sierra Leone and Ghana. One of its short term plans is to roll out the model to Nigeria, Uganda, and Democratic Republic of Congo. In implementing the programme they organise events such as A Taste of Africa, Harnessing the Benefits of Migration: neighbourhood renewal in our global village, African Diaspora and Development Day (ad3), which seek to bring together the African diaspora, governments, other policymakers and funders. The Bank is a financial institution funded by the Governments of the Member States of the League of Arab States which signed the Establishing Agreement (18th. February, 1974). The Bank is an independent international institution enjoying full international legal status and complete autonomy in administrative and financial matters. OSISA
OSISA works to build and strengthen the values, practices and institutions of open and tolerant democracies throughout Southern Africa.
